Rivierplaas is located 380 km from Cape Town on the R27, and the farm is situated 9 km before Calvinia.

The farm has been registered in the name of the current family since 1927, and in 2027 it will reach its 100-year milestone.

The area is known as the Hantam, with the farm located in the Voor-Hantam West farming district.

The farm is bordered on the northern side by the renowned Hantam Mountains, and to the south-east you can see the unique mountain known as Rebunieberg.

The climate of the area falls within the winter rainfall region, with rain occurring mainly during the winter months and autumn, as well as occasional thunderstorms during the summer months.

Calvinia is known for its cold winters, with snow annually covering the Hantam Mountains in a white blanket.
